Giving Back to Our Community!
The Halifax Area Chapter of MOAA proudly connects our members with opportunities to give back and make a difference in our local community. Through the insight and inspiration shared by our guest speakers, we highlight meaningful ways to support veterans, students, and community initiatives. Each presentation brings new ideas, partnerships, and avenues for service—reminding us that together, we truly “Never Stop Serving.”
September Speaker – MAJ Greg Wilson – Wounded Warrior Umpire Academy
This opportunity to give back was shared with the Halifax Area Chapter of MOAA by one of our recent guest speakers. We are proud to highlight the impactful work of the Wounded Warrior Umpire Academy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering wounded veterans through the game of baseball. You can also follow their mission and stories on Facebook and Instagram @woundedwarriorua.
This month, they’re hosting an online fundraising auction — explore and support their efforts here: Wounded Warrior UA Auction.
Their next major event will take place November 8–9 in New Smyrna Beach, where about 30 Wounded Veterans will come together for a weekend baseball tournament at the Sports Complex near the airport. Donations of water, Gatorade, snacks, or food are greatly appreciated to help keep our warriors refreshed and supported between games and during recovery.
